We will be returning for a fourth year of test pitting and excavation this season at Albury Park to investigate the deserted medieval settlement which once stretched across the course of the former road to Shere, on the southern banks of the Tillingbourne. The original village of Albury was displaced in the early 19th century (to its current location to the west), and little now remains standing of the former cottages.

The Roman Studies Group's November talk is on the subject of Roman glass. Professor Ian Freestone has kindly offered to talk to us about 'The Long Roman Glass Industry'.
The Society has a substantial collection (around 135 originals) of the prints and watercolours of Surrey created by John and Edward Hassell in the early 1800s.
Between 1820 and 1833 the artists John Hassell and his son Edward Hassell created more than 2000 watercolours and engravings of Surrey. These works are now held by a variety f collections including the British Library and Surrey History Centre.
