The Prehistoric Group undertook a survey of Felday Camp, an Iron Age enclosure with a WWI prisoner-of-war camp within. An illustrated short report is on the attached pdf.
 

 

Friends of Woking Palace - Open Day

Visit the site of Woking's medieval manor and Tudor palace open on Saturday and Sunday as part of Heritage Open Days. In addition to the guided tours and displays Raphael Falconry, historical falconers, will be setting up their Hawks Mews on site. At 11.30am each day there will be a talk and a chance to meet the birds of prey and at 1.30pm and 3.30pm there will be flying displays (weather permitting). No parking on site or the private approach road. Free parking in Old Woking and access is by foot or cycle following the signed route (approx 1 mile).

England:Before and after the Norman Conquest - A Study Day

The Medieval Studies Forum has organised a study day to take place at Surrey History Centre. Three leading scholars, Dr Stuart Brookes (UCL), Nathalie Cohen (Institute of Archaeology) and Dr Chris Lewis (Kings College & Institute of Historical Research) will share some of their latest research with us.They will be joined by two members of the Forum who will also share their research. Finally we will take this opportunity to review the Saxon elements of the Surrey Research Framework released in 2006.

The Medieval Mind - A Study Day

The Medieval Studies Forum has organised a study day to be held at East Horsley. Speakers include Professor John Henderson on 'Understanding Plague in Late Medieval Italy' and Dr Sophie Page on 'Magic and Religion in the Late Middle Ages'. In addition a number of members of the Forum will be giving presentations. Please see the attached programme and application form for details.

Woking Palace Archaeological Project Open Day

Events: 

An opportunity to take a free guided tour of the excavations carried out during the fourth season of investigations on this Scheduled Site. In addition to the guided tours there will displays and exhibitions by a variety of local heritage organisations. Access is by foot or cycle. There is no parking at the site or on the private approach road but free parking is available in the centre of Old Woking from where there is a signed route (approx 1 mile) to the site.
