The History of Quakers in Godalming

Godalming’s Meeting House is the oldest in the area, predating Guildford’s by nearly a hundred years. Ruth Martin describes how a number of Godalming’s Quakers became important members of the town, influencing the development of its industries and commerce, and hence the development of the town itself.

However, their work is very diverse, ranging from the “Staycation” in Godalming to coordinating volunteers at the Woking History Centre and working with home-educated children.
