Godalming Museum

New independent website for Godalming Museum

Godalming Museum has a new independent website created by a team of volunteers led by Hugh Turrall-Clarke, working with local web site designer and manager Phil Kemp. The website is designed to be clearly accessible on tablets and hand held devices as well as on larger screens. It will publicise and improve access to the museum’s services, with pages about  displays of local history, the Arts and Crafts inspired garden and gallery, exhibitions by local artists, events and family activities, research facilities in the local studies library, school loan boxes, talks and group visits, together with practical information to help visitors plan their visit. There is also information on volunteering opportunities, and how to sponsor the museum or become a Friend. Visit the website at www.godalmingmuseum.org.uk and find out more about your local museum.

Godalming Museum shop sells a wide variety of gifts and books, many related to Godalming and Surrey, which make excellent  presents. Also for sale is a range of fine chinaware, exclusive to the Museum, decorated with the purple Iris Stylosa painted by Gertrude Jekyll, the renowned gardener who lived at Munstead Wood.

Godalming Museum is located at 109a High Street, by the Pepperpot.  It is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 4pm in Winter time. Admission is free but donations are welcomed. The Local Studies library is open in the afternoons from 1 pm to 4 pm. Light refreshments are available throughout the day. Children are always welcome. There is a delightful Jekyll style garden at the rear of the museum and an excellent gift shop. Godalming Museum is run in partnership by Waverley Borough Council and Godalming Museum Trust.
