The Roman Studies Group is organising another season of excavation at Abinger Roman villa. Work will concentrate in the field adjacent to the villa which has revealed evidence for extensive Iron Age activity.
Dates will be as follows:13-15th June, 18-22nd June, 25-29th June, 4-6th July, 9-12th July. Priority will be given to SyAS members but non-members are welcome.
The Local History Committee will be holding their Annual Symposium on Saturday 2nd April 2016 at The Ashtead Peace Memorial Hall, Ashtead, Surrey, KT21 2BE. The symposium will cover various aspects of church history and also look at useful sources for historians.

Powers to deal with the immediate problems associated with the notice given to leave Castle Arch by Guildford Borough Council have been delegated to the Management Committee. The longer term strategy for the Society also requires thought and discussion and to take this further, the Council are holding a strategic discussion meeting for members on Saturday 27th February following the Symposium. To aid this discussion the Council would very much like members to complete the attached questionnaire. In order to allow collation of the results we would be grateful if all responses should be sent as soon as possible.
