Evaluation by R Wardill of WA in advance of the second phase of new football pitch creation on the site revealed a modern ditch but no finds or features of archaeological interest. The lack of topsoil over much of the area suggests past levelling or landscaping of the site.

Watching brief carried out by B Davis of WA during conversion works revealed evidence for the 19th century decorated tiled floor within the former milking parlour.

Evaluation by B Hennessy of WA prior to residential redevelopment. No features of archaeological interest were revealed, although a small assemblage of prehistoric flint flakes recovered from subsoil deposits is indicative of general activity in the area.

Evaluation by G Mabbott of WA prior to residential redevelopment revealed a small pit of indeterminate date.

Evaluation by R Wardill of WA of land proposed as the location for new football pitches. A concentration of possible Bronze Age activity comprising at least five ditches was located at the eastern end, and two isolated ditches with similar fills were found towards the centre and western end of the area evaluated. Bronze Age flint artefacts were found in the subsoil across the area, with the highest density in the area of the westernmost ditch. A single ditch containing medieval pottery and two undated postholes were also revealed.

Evaluation by G Mabbott of WA in advance of office redevelopment revealed no features and finds, and concluded that the flood plain location of the site would have made it unsuitable for settlement. No organic remains of past activities were revealed.

Large-scale evaluation programme by A Manning of WA. Varied results were recorded, ranging from largely negative areas where no finds or features of archaeological interest were revealed, through to evidence for Neolithic activity, Bronze Age and Iron Age settlement, and post-medieval agricultural land management. Subsequent excavation revealed a significant number of pits, postholes and gullies of Late Bronze Age–Early Iron Age date.

Evaluation by R Fitzpatrick of WA revealed a pit and a shallow ditch terminus/pit containing medieval pottery, together with a further pit dating to the post-medieval period, and a residual prehistoric flint scraper. A subsequent watching brief by J Millward of WA noted a similar depositional sequence to that recorded in the evaluation and excavation phases of work, but only the remains of a 19th century outbuilding added to the archaeological information recovered previously.

Continuation of evaluation and mitigation work by A Manning of WA during the construction of the A3 bypass. Mesolithic and Neolithic flintwork was identified at Hazel Grove Junction, and from peat deposits sampled at Boundless Copse, although the latter deposits were identified as Bronze Age in origin. Little evidence for Roman or Saxon activity was noted beyond the presence of a few Romano-British coins and pottery recovered near Thursley. Medieval features included field systems, hollow-ways and strip lynchets at Hammer Lane, Boundless Copse, Hazel Grove and Begley Farm.
