A Lecture
The Roman Studies Annual General Meeting will be followed by a talk from David Rudling - Roman period settlement and land use in the Ouse Valley. David is well known to RSG. Until 2004 David worked for the UCL Field Archaeology Unit, being its Director from October 1991 to December 2003. In 2004 David joined the Centre for Continuing Education at the University of Sussex as a Lecturer in Archaeology.
Reading Roman Inscriptions - afternoon of 2 September 2017
*David Bird will lead a workshop on “Reading Roman Inscriptions” which will include a general introduction to Roman Inscriptions. This will be followed by a look at standard abbreviations, changes through time and examples of different types of inscription. There will be ample time for participants to try their hand at translation.

The 'People of the Heath' project is now in it's final year and has investigated the Petersfield Barrow Cemetery with many interesting finds. The last season of excavation will be from 27th June to 15th July and this talk will discuss the project so far and the aims of the 2017 dig. The director, George Anelay, will be our speaker.

After talking to parents who attend our Museum Kids Club we found a demand for sessions to support children who are being educated at home.
A weekday group has now been formed for those children to learn about history.
The first session will be on Tuesday 7th February from 2pm to 3.30pm. (£5 per child, one adult per child free). It will be on the First World War. Details on the attached pdf.
Spring 2017 SIHG Lecture Series in Leatherhead

ICOMOS-UK hold an annual Christmas Lecture each year in December, bringing together our membership and others interested in cultural heritage for a festive evening of wine, mince pies and a talk from an expert speaker. This year, they are pleased to be celebrating the 2016 inscription of the UK’s latest World Heritage Site, Gorham’s Cave Complex, the Neanderthal cave site in Gibraltar, with a talk from Professor Clive Finlayson, Director of the Gibraltar Museum and of Gorham’s Cave Complex.
