London Archaeologist's Annual Lecture will this year feature a report on archaeological works alongside the project to replace electrical cabling within Hampton Court. This has offered an opportunity to excavate within the buildings and is revealing earlier phases of construction.

Surrey Archaeological Society is running not one, but two community archaeology test pitting events in 2019 in Epsom and Ewell!
On Saturday 25th May, there will be an open day (11:00-16:00) at Bourne Hall, where anyone can come along and have a try at digging, sieving or helping to process the finds. The day will include activities with Roman legionaries, as well as finds from previous digs, so do come along and see what’s going on!

The Juniper Hall Field Studies Centre is hosting a land snail identification course. The course is being run by Dr June Chatfield and is open to all ability levels. It is a weekend of searching for land snails on the North Downs and identifying them. This subject is of use to both environmentalists and archaeologists.

Three walks have been arranged to trace the events of 17th June 1919 when a mob attacked Epsom Police Station. Walks will begin at the Rifleman in East Street and finish in Ashley Road. On July 20th 2019 the Kingston upon Thames Archaeological Society will be celebrating its 50th anniversary with an all day conference, including speakers with experience of Kingston's archaeology.

The newly renovated Providence Chapel in Charlwood will reopen on 6th April. This unique Grade II* listed building was originally built in Horsham in the late 1700s and moved to Charlwood in the early 1800s. It has now been renovated with help from a Heritage Lottery Fund grant and other donors and will now be available as a local community building and opened on regular occasions to the general public.

South Oxfordshire Archaeological Group is extending its excavations at Gatehampton Roman villa, near Goring-on-Thames into 2019. The focus this year will be the bath house and exploration of a possible new building. The visit will include an explanation of the site, a tour of the excavations and viewing of the latest finds. Whilst there is no fee for the tour, donations to the project are welcomed.
Following the visit to the excavation there is the option to stay locally for a pub lunch.
