Text: BISLEY CHURCH

Bisley Curch, in a charmingly rural setting, was built in the 12th Centruy. Its West Porch with its pointed arch, formed by two solid oak baulks apparently cut from the same tree, is an attractive feature. One of the three bells was made in the 14th Century. The registers date from 1561, and a Silver Chalice and Paten from 1570. Somewhat difficult to find in a field south-west of the Church is the Holy Well, the water of which was said to benefit sufferers from eye trouble, and several other complaints. Some think the Church was built as much for pilgrims to the well as for service to the then scattered farming community.
