Langley Mill, on the Derbyshire / Nottinghamshire border, is sometimes (probably wrongly!) described as having been the "most industrialised village in the country". What didn't Langley Mill produce? This talk looks at the various companies established in the 19th and 20th centuries, and at their eventual demise.
Our speaker, Robert Mee, has an M.A. in English Local History from the University of Leicester, has conducted several research projects based around the Derbyshire / Nottinghamshire border and has written two books on the Heanor/Langley Mill area. He gave SIHG a very popular Zoom talk ““Bradshaw's and an Early Railway Tour” in 2024.
