Coming Soon: Richard Morgan
Richard will be coming to Leatherhead on Thursday 29th October to speak to us on “The Iron Industry in the Weald” (at 2PM).
Richard studied at Liverpool and Leeds Universities, then worked at geological consultancies and marine / airborne geophysics industries, largely spent in the pursuit of oil and gas, although occasionally looking for cannons in the Caribbean. More recently, Richard ran his own oil and gas exploration business.
Since retirement the history of natural resource exploitation in the Weald area has been a focus of interest, particularly the role of the region as a principal iron producing area in the 15C to 17C. This seems at odds with the way the area looks now, although the legacy of those times is all around us.
