On the 2nd of December, Nick Branch, Stephen Fry (freelance ecologist) and Mike Simmonds will be hosting a free 1 day conference based around Chobham Common at the University of Reading. This conference will examine the heritage, biodervisity, conservation and management of the Common, including the plans for the Oneobservatory, a Chobham database collating the vast array of commercial, academic and citizen led research undertaken at the Common.
There will be a range of presentations about the work on the Common, a session on the above key topics followed by discussion. Delegates have been invited from Natural England, Historic England, the Surrey Wildlife Trust and Surrey County Council in addition to other historic and environmental bodies. It is hoped that this event will assist in the development of the Oneobservatory and the creation of a range of research opportunities.
Please reply directly to m.j.simmonds@reading.ac.uk as soon as possible if you would like to attend, and indicate any dietary requirements you may have. Feel free to extend this invitation to any colleagues who might be interested.
