Bringing Tudor and Stuart Surrey to Life : an Introduction to Sources

Date:
Saturday, March 11, 2017 - 10:30 to 15:30
  • Bringing Tudor and Stuart Surrey to life

The Early Modern Studies Group is holding its inaugural event Bringing Tudor and Stuart Surrey to life: a study day on sources for Surrey history, 1500-1700 at the Surrey History Centre in Woking on Saturday 11 March 2017: 10.30-3.30 £12

There will be four speakers, each very experienced in researching Surrey history of this period, speaking about five of the key source materials: wills, probate inventories, parish registers, borough records and the hearth tax. They know these sources well and will speak about how you can use them to best effect.

If you are less interested in research but still fascinated by history then this will also be a worthwhile day for you – we shall after all be speaking about plague, crime, birth, marriage, death and the contents of other people’s houses. What could be more fascinating?

Tea and coffee provided.
