Denise studied archeology at Cardiff University before embarking on a PhD that looked at evidence for glass and glass making in Roman Britain. Since then she has written scores of specialist reports for sites such as Silchester and the Roman Baths at Caerleon, as well as the Shire book on Roman Glass in Britain. She is currently Assistant Director of Andante Travel who specialise in tours to the Clasical World and further afield.

On 14 March 2009 the Society will be running a half-day event at the Guildford Museum on Geographical Information Systems.

This talk was unfortunately cancelled due to adverse weather conditions and we are pleased to have been able to rearrange for this date.

Jon has been directing operations at this site for 3 seasons and many of our members have been involved.

An understanding of the archaeology is emerging and Jin will outline the work underatken so far and give us his interpretation of the archaeology.

Chris Roberts was a fighter pilot, a flying instructor and a test pilot.
He served a tour with the Arrows, then he was a test pilot at Dunsfold on Harriers, finally becoming a pilot with a charter airline.

The third in the series of lectures on  "Royal Castles and Palaces in Surrey" will be given by Jeremy Harte, Curator, Bourne Hall Museum, Ewell.

The lecture will be held in the Abraham Dixon Hall at The Letherhead Institute.

The lecture commences at 8pm with tea and coffee available from 7.30pm

Lucy Worsley the Chief Curator of Historic Royal Palaces will talk on Hampton Court. The lecture will be held in the Abraham Dixon Hall at the Letherhead Institute and commences at 8pm. Tea and coffee will be available from 7.30pm when the doors open.

Surrey County Archaeological Unit have kindly agreed to show us over the site of their investigations on the line of a water pipeline which crosses the meadows of the River Mole in Fetcham. At least  2 ditches and the outline of part of a building  of the RB period are evident.

Ptolemy Dean, Bsc(Hons) UCL Dip Arch (Edin) RIBA, architect and artist,  will present the Society's Annual Lecture this year.

Ptolemy Dean specialises in the restoration of historic buildings, as well as designing new buildings in keeping with their surroundings. He has written 'The more people who can read and enjoy historic architecture, the more importance architecture will be given in our society'
