This site on the southern edge of Roman Southwark was dug in advance of redevelopment by PCA. It proved to contain important evidence for a religious complex with probably two Romano-Celtic temples and an associated building. There were many associated finds including the now famous Mars Camulos inscription and the sealed canister that proved to contain expensive ointment. Southwark was Surrey's nearest Roman centre of any consequence and this ritual site was probably well known to those whose activities took them there or into London proper.
