The Group, established in 1973, aims to encourage interest and research into the archaeology and history of Guildford and the surrounding area.

Lectures are held on the second Monday of the month, September to May, at the Guildford United Reformed Church, Portsmouth Road. For details see the Upcoming Events page. All are welcome – there is a visitor's charge of £3.

Members of the Group have, over the years, undertaken a variety of projects. A current one aims to identify the boundaries of the large medieval manor of Braeboeuf, south of Guildford, as described in a "perambulation" in 1800. Proposals for new projects are always welcome.

The Group's popular booklet, Explore Guildford: 5 walks around historic Guildford, was first produced in 1983 and its 6^th revision (2010) may be purchased from the Tourist Information Centre or at the Group's meetings, price £2.
